Sabre drives ‘Women in Technology’ week


This International Women’s Day at Sabre we celebrated the spirit of ‘Women in Technology’ and are humbled to be a part of a greater community of tech companies that support women power.

Be it their passion to drive results, energy to solve complex problems, leadership acumen to develop and manage large teams – women at Sabre have always made us proud,” said Shail Maniar, vice president and managing director, Sabre. “Their energy, ideas, creativity and innovation has pushed the boundaries, making Sabre a ‘Great Place to Work.’ Therefore, while the world was celebrating the International Women’s Day, we decided to make it a week long experience.”

Supporting the ‘Women in Technology’: Digital Duchess Hackathon

With perspective of supporting women in technology and offering them a platform to showcase their talent we hosted a month long hackathon only for women. The design thinkers and passionate coders had to build applications and products that resonate with travel technology. More than 700 women submitted their hack ideas of which 29 top-notch women techies were shortlisted for the 12-hour offline hackathon at our Bangalore development centre. Women techies came together for a panel discussion to talk about the ‘Future technology trends driving the next generation of travel.’ A panel of eminent speakers shared deeper insights into the emerging technologies and recent advancements in the travel industry. A host of millennials participated in the Tech Geek Fashion Show along with performances by music band Strings and dance group Ravers.

Celebrating and having fun is a part of our culture. An evening filled with music and dance performances by our employees. Men and women came together for a scintillating fashion show themed around ‘Tech Geeks’ (Suparna Banerjee contributed to this article)
