Sabre Enhances Sabre Vacations Agent Tool with Travel Impressions Tour Inventory

SOUTHLAKE, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. 9, 2005–Sabre Travel Network, the Sabre Holdings business that connects travel suppliers and agents through the world’s leading global distribution system (GDS), today announced that Travel Impressions packaged vacation inventory is now available to U.S. agents through Sabre Vacations, Sabre’s Web-based vacation package booking engine. Sabre Vacations is a private-label version of Trisept Solutions’ VAX VacationAccess. The addition of Travel Impressions brings the number of tour operators offered through Sabre Vacations to eighteen.

The addition of Travel Impressions, one of the largest tour operators in the country, to the Sabre Vacations offering provides travel agents with leisure vacation packages to over 150 destinations and over 1,100 resorts and hotels worldwide. This expanded inventory allows agents to be more creative and comprehensive in the travel packages they offer their clientele.

“As our product line has grown and expanded, we sought a new Web-based platform to reach greater numbers of travel agents,” said Larry Lynch, vice president of eCommerce for Travel Impressions. “Through Sabre Vacations, we will be able to increase our exposure to travel agents and offer valuable services, such as detailed property descriptions with graphics and e-mail alerts on promotions to their customers.”

“Serving our customers’ needs is always our first priority,” said Chris Kroeger, senior vice president, Sabre Travel Network, North America. “These improvements to Sabre Vacations will enable agents to more efficiently meet their customers’ needs, while enhancing revenue potential.”

Sabre Holdings research indicates that the leisure travel segment continues to grow, with leisure spend increasing from $127B in the U.S. and Canada in 2002 to over $150B in 2006. ASTA studies show that tour packages continue to increase as a part of the agency mix, representing an estimated 30 percent of offline leisure agency sales in 2003, compared to 15 percent in 1996 – with 66 percent of agencies expecting package sales to continue to grow.
