Sabre Corporation’s Krakow branch has completed its vibrant three-month summer internship program. As a result, many interns have transitioned to permanent roles at Sabre, stepping into independent positions. The internship program is one of Sabre’s key initiatives, dedicated to supporting and empowering young IT talents at the start of their professional journey.
For years, Sabre Poland has been deeply committed to educational initiatives and actively contributes to the growth of Krakow’s tech community. By building strong partnerships with universities, student organisations, and NGOs, the company tailors its programs to meet the needs and ambitions of IT professionals. Programs like Sabre Academy at AGH University, guest lectures, and career fairs allow Sabre experts to mentor the next generation of IT talents, helping them shape their career paths and pursue their dreams.
The internship program is meticulously planned to provide interns with the best opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the organisation. Sabre’s culture is experienced through various activities, from building strong relationships to participating in dynamic industry events. Hackathons, academy sessions, and networking gatherings are just a glimpse of the diverse and enriching summer schedule.
– At Sabre, we strongly believe in the potential of young talent and are dedicated to providing our interns with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills that make it easier for them to step into their roles after the internship – says Anna Stach, EMEA People Team Senior Director and Site Ambassador at Sabre. – Our summer internship program is regularly enhanced to ensure that participants can apply what they’ve learned to real-world career challenges – she adds.
The program is built around key pillars: integration into the company, development of practical skills, acquiring business knowledge, and programming experience. Through the Internship Academy series, interns learn about different departments within Sabre and gain insights into the company’s market environment. Each intern is assigned a manager who provides continuous support and mentorship throughout the internship period.
As the internship comes to an end, the focus shifts toward gaining practical experience. One of the key highlights is the September Sabre Summer Camp, a week-long internal hackathon where interns work in teams to develop their own applications and present them to a panel of judges. This event provides a perfect opportunity to develop leadership, time management, communication, and teamwork skills.
– Entering the IT industry can be challenging, especially for young professionals at the beginning of their careers, given the strong competition for junior roles. But for us, it’s a fantastic opportunity to invest in young, passionate individuals eager to grow their skills – says Anna Micek, Internship Program Coordinator at Sabre Poland. – Krakow, with its renowned academic institutions, is a true talent hub. Our goal is to provide these talented students with a comprehensive development journey that extends beyond technical expertise, offering them practical insight into IT within a business context. This is the foundation of every programmer’s future career, regardless of their field of expertise. By investing in young talent, we support their growth while also shaping the company’s future – she adds.
The internship’s final stage is packed with internal and external events. Interns are allowed to participate in HackYeah, Europe’s largest onsite hackathon. This recurring event in the IT community features Sabre team members as mentors, competitors in various categories, and company representatives engaged in networking. In these roles, they work together to foster a sense of community by sharing knowledge and experience. Through their participation in HackYeah, interns gain essential experience and a unique opportunity to observe industry events where the best programmers go head-to-head.
With around 1,300 employees, Sabre Poland is a key strategic player and a major technology hub, responsible for implementing solutions and leading transformations that impact Sabre’s global operations.
